Signed Android Package for BlackBerry

I am using Visual Studio 2017 and have built an android application. I used the Ad-Hoc distribution channel and used the wizard to create the signing identity. When trying to upload to BlackBerry UEM I receive the message:

"The app was not signed correctly and could not be added"

Their KB states: "Overview - Due to a change in the Java JRE some Internal Android Apps (APKs) may not be able to be added to UEM version 12.7. Cause - APKs signed with older signature algorithms (such as MD5) have been disabled in the JRE, and are no longer able to be added to BlackBerry UEM. Resolution - Update the APK to leverage a newer signature algorithm"

Using the Java keytool didn't solve the problem (java\jdk1.8.0_161).

Any thoughts on how to use a 'newer signature algorithm" ?

Thanks in advance.
