Once again I made the mistake of applying an update, simply because I was prompted to do so (not because I needed it for anything I am aware of).
http://docs.xamarin.com/releases/ios/xamarin.ios_7/xamarin.ios_for_vs_1.8/
The update was Xamarin iOS for Visual Studio.
Now none of my Xamarin Android projects will load.
I hasten to point out that these projects did open in this version (2012) of visual studio prior to applying this update.
I get:
Unsupported This version of Visual Studio does not have the following project types installed or does not support them. You can still open these projects in the version of Visual Studio in which they were originally created. - projectName, "C:\path\projectName.csproj"
Non-functional changes required Visual Studio will automatically make non-functional changes to the following projects in order to enable them to open in this version and Visual Studio 2010 SP1. Project behavior will not be impacted. - solutionName, "C:\path\solutionName.sln"
I figured out a clue as to what is happening... I notice I have been logged out of the Xamarin account. Now when it tries to log in it says: "Please connect to the internet to proceed." (But of course I AM connected to the internet.)
I have tried using the procedure here:
http://docs.xamarin.com/guides/android/getting_started/installation/offline_activation/
to get it working again, and I remember this worked for me on a previous occasion, but doesn't seem to be working either, this time.
I REALLY didn't want to be spending my day dealing with this, Xamarin!
