Detect volume change from hardware buttons

Hi,

I use AduioSession.CurrentHardwareOutputVolumeChanged to detect volume changes, but since AudioSession is deprecated, I have to use something else.
I looked high and low, but all I could find was this:

Is this the right way to get these notifications? Is not there a simpler way?
