Wrapping Error Handling Around Xamarin.Forms.Maps or Adding a Check for Google Play Services

I have been searching the internet for examples of checking if the Xamarin.Forms.Maps will work or not on the device.

My goal is to check if Google Play Services is available in the shared portable class library. If Google Play Services is available then I play to create a new Map object and pass it to the view's content. If Google Play Services is not available I plan to pass off to maps.google.com or maps.apple.com (depending on the platform).
