CCRenderTexture Crash

I'm working on a Xamarin Forms with embedded CocosSharp project. I need to be able to take a screenshot of the game view and save it. We add a background image from a byte array (converted to texture, then to sprite, can be quite large), then just using the usual begin, visit, end will sometimes work and sometimes result in an IndexOutOfRangeException. It feels random and I can't figure out the logic behind it. Even in a fresh project I have observed this behaviour.

If there's anyone still working with CocosSharp and lurking around here, I really need help!
