Version Control Not Working

I am working to port an Objective-C application to Xamarin.Mac. I have my C# sources in a Git repository. Xamarin Studio recognizes that the solution is in source control, and the diff features in the code editor work correctly, but I can't review my changes or commit the entire solution, all at once. (In case you're wondering, this is a local-only repository; it has no remotes pointing to a hosting service or anywhere else.)

When I choose Version Control ➭ Review Solution Changes from the menu bar, I see an empty window with the words "No files have local modifications," even if the solution very much does have changes (as verified through the command-line Git program). Also, when I choose Version Control ➭ Commit Solution, the only file that will be committed is the file currently open for editing (if I don't have a source file currently open, the Commit Solution command is dimmed and unavailable).

Is this a bug, or am I simply doing something wrong?
