Google Play Services Component and In-App Billing

I am about to implement In App Billing and have been looking around a bit.

The Aug 1 Xamarin Blog entry by Tom Opgenorth @topgenorth discussing the new Google Play Services component says, in part:

allows Android developers to take advantage of the most recent features from Google such as ... Google Play In-app Billing v3 ..

http://blog.xamarin.com/introducing-the-google-play-services-component-for-xamarin-android/

But, I don't see anything in the samples or docs that seem related to supporting In-app billing.

OTOH, slide 15 in a Whats New presentation by Jonathon Pryor @jonp seems very relevant as it mentions support for AIDL: http://www.slideshare.net/Xamarin/whats-new-in-xamarinandroid-jonathan-pryor

Before I go leverage the AIDL support without the Googpe Play component to do this (and this appears to be a good example by Prashant Cholachagudda @prashantvc of doing that for in app billing: https://github.com/prashantvc/InAppBillingDemo ) I just want to check my understanding.

Am I confused or missing something? Is the Google Play Services Component useful or helpful for In App Billing? Thanks!
