Default value in the xaml

I would like to define a default value in my xaml for text color, so for example:

In a C# Util class I would have
public static MainTextColor = "White";

Then in the xaml

I was trying to create a public static variable that I could bind to text color, but that didn't seem to work. What would be the best practice for setting up global defaults in the xaml?
